NCBI Seminars:


BiTmaP, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and DePaul University School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems will host instructors from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) for training sessions on October 4, 5 and 6, 2006.

The NCBI training sessions are focused mini-courses in bioinformatics for researchers, teachers, and college students. Each mini-course is 2.5 hours in length with the first hour and a half devoted to an overview that is followed by a one hour hands-on session. These mini-courses are being offered free of charge and everyone is welcome to participate. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. To register, please email your name, affiliation, title, phone number and email address to bitmap@techpark.com before September 20, 2006.

On October 4, from 12:30 to 6:30 PM, NCBI instructors will provide the mini-courses, "Making Sense of DNA and Protein Sequences" and "Identification of Disease Genes". These sessions will take place on the UIC Campus in the SES building.

On October 5, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, NCBI instructors will provide the mini-courses, "Correlating Disease Genes and Phenotypes" and "BLAST Quickstart". These sessions will also take place on the UIC Campus in the SES building.

On October 6, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, NCBI instructors will repeat the mini-courses, "Making Sense of DNA and Protein Sequences" and "Identification of Disease Genes". These sessions will take place on the DePaul University Campus.
